Founded in Stockholm in 1991, Katatonia, in the early stages of their career, transcended death/doom sounds, blending gothic, progressive, and alternative elements to build their own dark universe. Jonas Renkse's fragile yet powerful vocals, profound lyrics, and the band's signature atmospheric texture transformed Katatonia from just a metal band into an emotionally charged experience. Following a path that evolves with each album while maintaining its essence, the band always prompts the same question: Can melancholy be this beautiful?
Katatonia has opened a new chapter, both harder and bolder, with their latest album, “Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State.” The fresh energy gained from the band's new members is reflected on stage.
